Week 5 in Texas!
WE'RE MOVING!!!
lol yes this Thursday we're moving somewhere else. I don't know the address yet so stay tuned. Blessings abound! Hopefully that means no more roaches, no more cold showers, and no more headaches from weed! We also get a washer and dryer!

We did get a new fridge! The old one, when we moved it out,
was infested with roaches. We have sprayed so much poison all around the
apartment to try and kill them all. I hate roaches hahaha!
I've been out in the field officially a month!! I've almost been on a mission
for 2 months! Exciting stuff!
So yesterday we were sitting in sacrament meeting and they were announcing the
new callings for people in the ward. The new Elder's Quorum President was in
the bishopric so there was an opening. Brother Gwilliam, our ward mission
leader got called! So we still don't know who our new mission leader will be
but brother Gwilliam will be missed.
Also, funny story! So we were on the way to an appointment and the gas light turned on. We didn't really think much of it, like it will be fine. Well when we got to the appointment, in the middle of nowhere, we noticed we had 8 miles left until empty! The stress was so real. When we left we asked where the nearest gas station was and they were all over 8 miles away. When we were leaving we started to sing hymns in the car to build our faith and we got to a gas station with ONE mile to spare! We got to that gas station on pure faith!
This week we also got to go to Potbelly Sandwiches! We met a girl there who grew up with members and her friends went to BYU! We chatted with her a bit but we weren't sure if we were allowed to proselyte there because we do have some restrictions but we'll probably go back and see if we can get to know her better!

So every Wednesday evening we do a Book of Mormon read at
the church! We eventually want investigators there so this week we made an
event on Facebook! We have 2 people who come every week but we had someone new
come because they saw it on Facebook! So that was a miracle that something came
out of Facebook!
We got to teach A. and his whole family again on Saturday! He also invited
a friend from his church to listen to our lesson! When we texted him to confirm
the appointment, he told us to bring 4 extra Book of Mormons. He's been giving
them out to his whole church! He hosts a bible study in his apartment on
Saturday evenings and he wants us to host one and talk about the Book of
Mormon!
We're going to convert his whole church! He totally already knows the
Book of Mormon is true too. He was telling us how it completes the Bible, and
we're like, "We know!" So he's awesome and so ready! We'll probably
convert his whole church!
We also taught L. this week! He's also so humble and he just wants to be on God's side again. He's loving everything we have shared with him so far! He opened up about his life to us and he has had a rough go, it breaks my heart. He is so good though and so ready to learn. When you're humble, the Lord is able to teach you. That's a trend I've noticed a lot this week, be humble and meek. That's when you become teachable.
When we taught G. on Friday, we taught him about the pride cycle. We didn't quite get to the point on helping him out of it but he at least recognizes it now!
3 Nephi 11:37-38 says:
" 37 And again I say unto you, ye must repent, and become as a little child, and be baptized in my name, or ye can in nowise receive these things.
38 And again I say unto you, ye must repent, and be baptized in my name, and become as a little child, or ye can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God."
Repentance, baptism, and humility. That's what we need to inherit eternal life. Being humble is key! That's the way our of the pride cycle. Being humble is so hard but so vital. I remember in the MTC, when M. Russell Ballard came, someone asked him how to be humble and how to not get prideful. His answer was so simple but paraphrasing, he said that if you are praying every night, asking God for help, the pride melts out of you. Pray for help, and you can be humble.
Okay the Book of Mormon is also so powerful. So on Tuesday we went to see Cecilia and she wasn't having a good day. We were visiting for a bit and then we read the Book of Mormon with her. Her mood totally shifted and there was a peace there. It was really good! The spirit is so real and the Book of Mormon has such a powerful spirit!
We also got to see C. again! We call her pretty consistently but it has been a week or so since we had seen her! She has such a strong desire to learn more but she is so busy so it makes things hard. I know that the Lord will prepare a way, we just gotta be patient.

Missionary work is great. Miracles are seen every day. I
love the Book of Mormon and I love this Gospel. I know that they are true and
they will bring about such amazing blessings! I love you all!! Until next week!
With much love,
Sister Emma Joi Gardner
