Week 1 is in the Books

WOW!! This week was such a blur! The beginning of the week seems so long ago but it also seems like it was just yesterday. They jump right in teaching and I feel like I have learned so much! When we read the scriptures as a district I learn so much! The scriptures have come alive!

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement and for the love I have felt since I've been here!

I have already started teaching investigators! It has been so cool to be bale to help people and do these things. Even though it is likely that they could be members, it feels real and I know that I am helping them with struggles they're really having. One of our investigators has been having a hard time getting answers so we taught her how to pray and to get answers to prayers. We also helped her recognize the spirit so it was so cool! The other girl we're teaching is so sweet and she has some real questions we're helping her with. I love that we help people. Our purpose is to help these people come to Christ and I think that's awesome. There are so many things we can do to help others come unto Christ!

My companion and I, Sister Whetten, work really well together. As we teach I have felt the spirit direct the things we do and teach. It is so cool!

We have a super small district! 3 Elders and 4 Sisters! It's nice because we all are getting super close! All the sisters in the district are going to Fort Worth too as well as one of the Elders! The other two Elders are going to Billings Montana.

We had a devotional on Tuesday and President M. Russell Ballard came! How cool is that!! He has such a strong spirit about him. When he walked into the room I definitely felt the spirit confirm to me that he is a prophet of God. He said such cool things and even though I didn't ask a specific question to him I was still able to get answers to questions.

We watched a recorded devotional by Elder Bednar called the Character of Christ! If you can watch that, I would recommend it! It really gave me a new perspective on Christ and becoming more like him. The biggest take away from it is that Christ character is when the natural man would turn inward and be selfish, Christ turns outward and serves. It has really helped me think about my purpose and how I can become even more like Christ.

I want to share some of my teaching 'fails' that are really just minor mess ups that make me laugh!
- I related littering to repentance, how? Not sure but it didn't really work so my companion had to clean up that mess!
- When we invited him to read in Joseph Smith History my companion went to hand him a Book of Mormon to read that and I had to correct her.
It is such a good thing that we are learning here!

I love the MTC, the people I've met her, all the things I'm learning, has been so great.

Funny stories!!

- One of the Elders in the district is a literal cowboy and he has been teaching us how to rope. Sometimes in class he'll pull out his rope and catch another Elder with it! We will be so ready to go to Texas by the end of this!
- The Elders were looking in their room and noticed the air vent was a little loose. They looked inside and found cookies! The worst part is, they ate them!! They're still alive but man, I wouldn't do that.
- Last night Sister Ward, a girl in the district, dumped candy all over my companion and we could not stop laughing. Candy was everywhere!

Having a smartphone is so handy! They allow us to read emails all throughout the week! I love all of you and your support! If you have questions or want more details on anything, email me! I would love to hear from you!

God is so good, he loves us all!

Love Sister Gardner!
